The Local Tavern

Gate-side beer and burgers near the North Terminal gates

The Local Tavern sits past security in the North Terminal at Patrick Leahy Burlington International (BTV), a short walk from most airline gates. It runs through the main daytime bank, typically opening by early morning departures and staying open through the last evening flights, but late-night delays can outlast the kitchen. Seating is bar stools plus a few two-tops; plan on 25–40 minutes if you’re ordering a full meal before boarding.

Menu is airport-pub basics: burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and fries, all in the $12–$20 range before tax and tip. Draft beer leans regional, with at least one Vermont craft option usually on tap alongside national brands in bottles and cans. You’ll also see a short cocktail list and house wine by the glass, typically in the $9–$14 range. Portions run larger than grab-and-go sandwiches from nearby kiosks, but prices track with standard airport markups.

Service style is sit-down with a single check per table or bar seat, so build in 10 extra minutes compared with ordering at the food court kiosks by the South Terminal concourse. If your connection is under 45 minutes, stick to a beer and fries or a quick appetizer instead of a full entrée. Tabs close out normally with chip cards and touch-to-pay; tipping defaults to standard 18–22% ranges on the screen.

The Local Tavern works best if you’re already through security and have at least an hour before a departure out of the North side of BTV. Grab a seat facing the concourse so you can watch boarding lines start to form at nearby gates and time your walk accordingly. One last tip: order your second drink when the food hits the table; bar tickets back up here during the top-of-the-hour departure banks.
