Two scoops at BTV beat the in-flight ice cream
Ben & Jerry's sits post-security near the North Terminal gates at Burlington (BTV), basically on the short walk between security and the main seating area. It’s a full ice cream counter, not a grab-and-go cooler, so expect real scoops, waffle cones, and shakes instead of prepacked pints only. If you want something cold and sweet before a Delta, United, or JetBlue departure out of the North side, this is the obvious stop.
Most single scoops run in the $5–$7 range depending on size and cone, with sundaes and shakes climbing closer to $8–$10 once you add toppings. Flavors rotate but the greatest hits usually show up: Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Americone Dream, and Phish Food are common. There’s typically at least one non-dairy option in the case, plus prepacked pints for around $7–$9 if you want to stash something for the drive after landing.
Hours track with flight banks: expect them open from roughly 5:00 a.m. for the first wave of departures through early evening, often around the last outbound flights at 7:00–8:00 p.m. Don’t assume late-night service after the final Delta or American departure; if you land on one of the last flights into Burlington, the gate area will often be open while the scoop counter is already dark.
Lines can stack up to 10–15 people deep during afternoon and early evening departures, especially on Fridays and Sundays, and scooping is made-to-order so it’s not a two-minute stop. If you’re tight on a 30-minute connection between North and South gates, skip the sundae builds and grab a prepacked pint or bar from the freezer instead. Quick tip: order a kid’s size in a cup if you board in 20 minutes; it melts slower and is easier to finish before you hit the jet bridge.
