Gate-area bar and grill inside BTV’s South Terminal
The Local sits past security in Burlington’s South Terminal, a short walk from the gates used by Delta and United. It’s a full-service bar and grill, so you can actually sit down instead of hovering at a snack kiosk. Expect basic airport pricing: burgers and sandwiches generally land in the mid-teens, and a drink can quickly push the tab toward $25–$30 per person.
Hours track the flight schedule, with The Local usually open from early-morning departures through the last evening banks. That means you can grab eggs and coffee before a 6:00 a.m. flight or a beer and sandwich before a 9:00 p.m. departure. If you’re on a short layover under 35 minutes, this is still a bit tight for a full meal; aim for at least 45 minutes gate-to-gate to sit, order, and pay without clock-watching.
Food is straightforward bar fare: expect burgers, chicken tenders, salads, and sandwiches rather than anything fussy, with most mains parked in the $13–$18 range. Portions get called “airport large” in a few writeups, which helps if you’re about to board a 5-hour connection run through hubs like ORD or ATL. If you’re price-sensitive, skip appetizers and stick to one main plus water or a single drink.
The bar pours regional beer along with standard domestic taps and basic cocktails, and a pint usually sits a few dollars higher than what you’d pay in town. This is one of the few spots post-security where you can sit at an actual bar rail, watch the TVs, and keep an eye on a boarding area that’s only a couple hundred feet away. If you care more about Wi‑Fi and outlets than bar chatter, take your drink to a nearby gate seat instead.
Tip: grab a table, ask for the check as soon as your food lands, and you’ll be safe making a boarding call that starts 30 minutes before departure.
