Gate-side caffeine in T1
Near the gates in Terminal T1, Fran’s Café is your straightforward coffee stop once you’re through security at Brasília–Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport. It runs throughout the main flight banks, so you can usually grab something early morning through late evening without hunting for a sit‑down restaurant.
Expect Brazilian-style espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and the usual café lineup of pastries and small sandwiches, with most items in the R$10–R$30 range. It’s counter-service, so you order, pay, and either wait a couple of minutes for your drink or walk off with something pre-made from the display case.
The espresso and pingado (coffee with milk) are the safer calls here, and the pastries generally hold up better than the pre-made sandwiches that have been sitting a while under the case lights. If prices feel high compared with downtown Brasília, remember you’re at BSB airside in T1, where everything trends up a few reais.
There’s limited seating directly around the café, usually a few tables and stools, but most people just take their coffee back toward the nearby boarding areas in T1. Power outlets are hit-or-miss around those seats, so don’t count on charging a laptop while you drink.
Payment is straightforward: cards are widely accepted, and international credit cards generally run without drama for small tickets around R$20–R$40. If a long line forms, it tends to be just before the big morning departures bank, so factor in an extra 10 minutes if your flight leaves before 9:00 a.m.
Tip: Order a simple espresso or pingado and grab a packaged pastry; it’s faster than waiting for made-to-order food when boarding for T1 flights is already on the screen.
