Most Star Alliance elites at BLR T2 get sent to “080,” not here.
Air India does list a Maharaja Lounge for international departures in Terminal 2, but current reports out of BLR almost all mention the 080 lounge instead, even for Air India and Star Alliance status passengers. That’s the first flag: if your boarding pass gets a lounge printed, double-check whether it actually says “Air India Maharaja Lounge” or just 080.
The lounge, when used, sits airside in T2 on the international side, past immigration and security, and access in theory runs to Air India Business Class plus eligible Star Alliance elites on international flights. Right now, though, online trip reports from 2023–2025 overwhelmingly point to the 080 contract lounge as the default option, even on Air India metal in Terminal 2.
Hours are typically aligned to Air India’s long‑haul and regional bank patterns from BLR T2, so expect it to open at least a couple of hours before the first international departure bank and close after the last late‑night flight, roughly in the 02:00–04:00 band. If your flight departs in the 11:00–16:00 lull, ask at the T2 information desk or the Air India check‑in counters before you rely on this lounge being staffed and open.
Food, drink, and seating specifics are thin on recent data, unlike 080 where people mention hot Indian dishes and pay‑at‑the‑bar alcohol with prices quoted in INR. Treat the Maharaja Lounge as a basic business lounge at a secondary hub: expect buffet‑style hot dishes timed around peak departures, self‑serve soft drinks, and limited made‑to‑order options rather than anything plated restaurant‑style.
Charging points in T2 are generally decent near gates like 23–28, and BLR’s newer terminal has strong natural light across the international pier, so if this lounge is closed or you are redirected, you can still work comfortably from the public seating areas. Wi‑Fi in the terminal uses an Indian mobile number OTP system; if you do not have an Indian SIM, confirm at check‑in whether Air India has lounge Wi‑Fi vouchers for international passengers.
Because real‑time practice at BLR shifts, watch your boarding pass and texts right after check‑in: if the printed location says 080 or points to a specific gate cluster in T2, follow that and ask the lounge desk directly if they can redirect you to the Maharaja Lounge. One practical move: build in an extra 10–15 minutes before boarding time so you have space to switch lounges if the first option is overcrowded or closed.
