Joe & The Juice

Gate 1-side caffeine fix at BHX Terminal 1

Joe & The Juice in Birmingham Airport’s Terminal 1 sits airside after security, handy for early flights once the shops open around 4–5 a.m. You’ll spot the pink branding near the main departures seating, an easy stop between security and gates 1–20. It’s a grab-and-go setup with limited perch seating, so assume you’ll be taking your drink to the gate.

Prices sit in typical airport territory: expect around £4–£5 for a latte, £5–£7 for the larger juices, and £5–£8 for sandwiches. Card and contactless are standard, and BHX pricing is in line with other UK Joe & The Juice branches, not the cheaper high-street chains. Figure on £10–£15 per person if you want a drink plus something to eat.

The menu sticks to the core hits: the “Joe’s Club” sandwich with chicken and avocado, the “Tunacado” pressed sandwich, and juices like “Green Tonic” or “Sports Juice.” Coffee is strong and on the darker side; if you’re caffeine-sensitive before a 06:30 departure, ask for an extra shot of milk. Portions on the pressed sandwiches are enough for a short-haul to FRA or AMS, but you’ll still want a second snack for longer legs over 3 hours.

Turnaround time is usually under 5–7 minutes for juices and 3–5 minutes for coffee, but it stretches closer to 10 minutes when several morning departures bank around 06:00–08:00. Staff can handle multiple drinks at once, so ordering two sandwiches and two juices together doesn’t double the wait. If your boarding pass shows a 30-minute boarding window, you’re safe ordering here before heading to a nearby gate like 10 or 12.

Tip: order ahead in one go for the whole group and use the first free table or ledge near the T1 windows to repack; it’s easier than juggling trays again at gates 1–5.
