£3 sausage roll and coffee is the BHX Greggs baseline

Just past security in Terminal 1, Greggs sits on the main airside concourse and moves people fast. This is the place for a cheap bite before a Ryanair or Jet2 departure when you don’t want a sit-down meal. Think pastries, bakes, and filled rolls you can eat at the gate in under 10 minutes.

Hot food runs all day, usually from early morning check-in waves through late afternoon departures, though exact hours track the BHX schedule more than a strict 24-hour clock. Bacon or sausage baps land around the £3–£4 mark, with steak bakes, sausage rolls and pasties mostly under £3. That puts a basic Greggs stop at under £7 for a hot item and drink.

Coffee is standard Greggs fare: simple machines, not a specialty setup, with regulars grabbing a latte or tea for around £2–£3. Cold drinks, bottled water, and juice sit in the open fridges by the till. If you want something vaguely fresh, look at the pre-packed sandwiches and baguettes in the £3–£5 range rather than anything that’s been under a heat lamp for hours.

Lines spike right after early-morning security opens and again around the 16:00–18:00 bank of European flights. Turnover is quick, but hot items do run out on bad-weather days. Staff will tell you straight if a bake is more than 20–30 minutes from coming out of the oven, so ask before you pay if you’re tight on a 40-minute connection.

Tip: grab your food at Greggs, then walk it to your actual gate; seating right by the counter gets crowded, but gates further down T1 usually have empty chairs where you can eat in peace.
