McDonald's

Near T1 departures, McDonald’s is the fastest full meal at BGY

Right in Terminal 1’s departures area after security, McDonald’s is the predictable option when you just want food you recognize and a clear price board. It operates during typical flight banks for BGY, covering early-morning departures through late-evening Ryanair waves, so it usually catches both the 06:00 crowd and the last flights around 22:00–23:00.

Menu is standard European McDonald’s: Big Mac, McChicken, Chicken McNuggets, Filet-O-Fish, plus McCafé-style espresso, cappuccino, and pastries. Expect a basic meal (burger, fries, drink) to run around €8–€11, with coffee starting near €1.50 and desserts around €2–€4. That’s cheaper than most seated spots in Milan Bergamo Airport, which often push mains above €15 in T1.

Service runs counter-order and self-order kiosks, which helps during peak Ryanair departures when several flights around the same 30–45 minute window hit the food court. Grab-and-go items like bottled water and packaged desserts move fastest when queues spike past 10–15 people.

McCafé drinks are the better buy here: an espresso or cappuccino in the €1.50–€2.50 range is competitive with landside cafés in Bergamo, and you can walk it straight back to your gate in T1. Fries and nuggets hold up fine if your boarding time is 20–30 minutes away; anything with lots of sauce is messier to eat in the gate chairs.

There aren’t many consistent complaints specific to this BGY location beyond the obvious: lines around major departures, occasional struggle to find a free seat, and bins filling up when several flights leave between 19:00 and 21:00. If you’re tight on time, figure at least 10 minutes for ordering and pickup, and more like 20 when the screen shows five or more open orders ahead of you.

Tip: If your gate is at the far end of T1, order, grab everything in a bag, and head toward your gate before eating so you don’t end up sprinting with a tray when boarding starts.
