Both apps work at Bahrain International Airport (BAH) Terminal 1, but pickup happens at the regular curb outside arrivals, not a special rideshare zone. Expect the car to show on the map within 2–5 minutes once you exit customs, since most drivers wait in the airport area.

Fares on Careem and Uber usually undercut metered taxis by a few Bahraini dinars on trips into Manama, which sits roughly 7–10 km from BAH depending on your hotel. Open both apps and compare: a 15–25 minute ride into central Manama often comes up in the BHD 3–7 range, depending on time of day and surge.

BAH runs 24/7, and Careem and Uber coverage tracks that schedule fairly well, with the best driver density between 07:00 and 01:00. Very late-night arrivals after 02:00 sometimes mean a 10–15 minute wait, so keep the airport taxi rank in sight as a backup if your app still shows “searching for drivers” after 5 minutes.

Pickup setup is fast: airport Wi‑Fi in T1 arrivals is free for at least 2 hours, enough to download Careem or Uber if you forgot. If you land with an eSIM or local SIM that supports 4G, your pin drop at “Bahrain International Airport Terminal 1” usually snaps to the main arrivals curb without adjustment.

For payment, both Careem and Uber accept cards stored in the app, so you can ride cashless in BHD or your home currency. Many drivers also accept cash in Bahraini dinars, but exact change helps on shorter rides under BHD 5, since drivers rarely carry big notes at 03:00.

Step-by-step from baggage claim

• 1. After passport control, collect bags at T1 and exit customs into the public arrivals hall on Level 1.
