BD1 fares get you from Bahrain Airport to Manama on Bus A1
The Airport A1 Bus runs from Bahrain International Airport’s T1 to central Manama for about BD1, making it the cheapest public option out of BAH. It’s a standard city bus, not an express coach, so plan 25–40 minutes into town depending on traffic on Airport Avenue and King Faisal Highway.
The A1 stop sits just outside T1 arrivals near the taxi rank, a 2–4 minute walk from the baggage hall exit. Look for the marked bus shelters with “A1” on the route board, alongside other BMTC routes. You pay onboard at the front door; have small Bahraini dinar coins or low-value notes ready so you’re not holding the line at 08:00 when airport staff commute.
Service typically starts around early morning and runs into late evening (roughly 05:00–23:00), with buses every 20–30 minutes during the daytime. The A1 route links the airport with key stops in Manama, including areas near the Diplomatic Area and major hotels along King Faisal Highway, so you can often walk the last 500–800 meters instead of switching to a taxi.
There’s no luggage hold on the A1, just standard urban bus seating for around 30–35 people plus standing room. One medium suitcase plus a backpack is fine; rolling three 23 kg checked bags on at 17:00 rush hour is not fun. If your flight lands after 23:00, or you’re a group of four with big bags, a metered airport taxi at T1 arrivals may be faster despite the higher BD6–BD10 fare.
Don’t expect Wi‑Fi or USB ports on this route; this is basic public transport run by Bahrain’s bus operator with standard AC and stop announcements. If you’re using a local SIM, pull up Google Maps and follow the A1 track along its fixed route so you know when to hit the stop button before your hotel or office.
One tip: if your arrival is between 21:00 and 23:00, walk straight out of T1, skip the café stop, and head to the A1 stand first—missing one bus can add 30 minutes to your night.
