Sol Alpaca

Alpaca Clothing

T1

Gate-side alpaca shop in T1 with real Peruvian sweaters

In T1 at Rodríguez Ballón (AQP), Sol Alpaca sits airside after security and focuses on alpaca and baby alpaca clothing instead of generic souvenirs. You’ll see racks of sweaters, scarves, ponchos, and hats in Andean patterns, all tagged with fiber content so you can tell regular alpaca from baby alpaca at a glance.

Expect airport pricing: simple alpaca beanies often run in the US$20–30 range, while baby alpaca sweaters or wraps can jump to US$80–150 depending on weight and design. It’s higher than the markets in Arequipa’s city center, but you’re trading up for last‑minute shopping without leaving T1 and for clearly labeled quality instead of guessing fiber mixes on the street.

Stock leans classic: neutral tones (grey, cream, black) plus a few brighter Andean colors, mostly in unisex cuts. Sizes can skew slim, so if you usually wear L or XL, grab one size up and try it on in the store before you head toward your gate in T1. Staff tends to speak at least basic English and can point out the warmer vs lighter-weight knits for different climates.

Payment is easy: they take cards with no problem, and prices show in soles with rough dollar equivalents. If you’re tight on time before an AQP–LIM hop, plan 10–15 minutes to browse and try things on. Tip: if you’re buying gifts, go for scarves or gloves; they pack flat and survive carry-on stuffing better than bulky sweaters.
