Gate-side alpaca goods in T1

Right inside Terminal T1 at Rodríguez Ballón (AQP), Alpaca 111 sells alpaca textiles and souvenirs that feel a notch above the generic stands near the public check-in area. This shop sits airside after security, so you can duck in even with a 30–40 minute buffer before boarding. Expect shelves of scarves, sweaters and soft toys clearly branded with “Perú” or “Arequipa,” aimed at carry-on space more than checked-luggage hauls.

Most small items at Alpaca 111 sit in the S/30–S/80 range, with larger sweaters and blankets climbing over S/150. It leans more toward polished, airport-style retail than the artisan stalls you see around Plaza de Armas, but you pay for the location and fixed pricing. Labels usually mark fiber content, so you can see if something is baby alpaca, regular alpaca, or an acrylic blend before you tap your card.

The shop keeps standard flight-bank hours, opening for early departures around 06:00 and staying open through the late-afternoon Lima shuttles in T1. That timing makes it a last-minute stop if you skipped the markets in the city center or realized at check-in that you forgot souvenirs for family. Staff are used to tight boarding times and will pack items quickly in light plastic or paper bags that slide into a 7–10 kg cabin bag.

Practical tip: snap a photo of the care instructions tag in Alpaca 111 before you leave T1, since many pieces need cold water washing or dry cleaning and the small paper tags fade fast on a long-haul back to Europe or the US.
