Alpaca Clothing

T1

Gate-side alpaca layers in T1

Anntarah sits inside Terminal T1 at Rodríguez Ballón International Airport (AQP), on the airside level once you clear security. It focuses on alpaca clothing, so think knitwear and accessories rather than souvenirs or food. Expect higher-than-market prices compared with downtown Arequipa, but the quality usually tracks with what you see in better city boutiques.

The shop stocks classic alpaca pieces: scarves, shawls, light sweaters, and soft hats that actually help on those chilly Arequipa mornings around 10–12°C. Sizes lean more toward women’s items, with some unisex basics that work as last‑minute gifts. Color runs are mostly neutral grays, creams, and blacks, with a few bright Peruvian patterns on the racks.

T1 is a small terminal with only a handful of gates, so Anntarah is at most a 3–5 minute walk from the central seating area near domestic departures. Figure you’ll spend 10–15 minutes to browse properly and try on one or two pieces. Staff usually ring up in soles, but card payment in PEN with chip terminals is the norm, so you don’t need leftover cash.

Best buys here: lighter-weight alpaca scarves and gloves that pack down small and weigh almost nothing in a carry-on under the 8 kg cabin limits many Peruvian carriers enforce. Skip very bulky sweaters; they’re easier to price-check in town. Plan your stop right after security rather than boarding time, so you’re not juggling bags and jackets in a crowded gate line.
