Accessible Parking

Marked accessible bays sit closest to the V. C. Bird ANU terminal

Accessible Parking at V. C. Bird International Airport (terminal 1) uses signed bays in the main public car park directly in front of the building. These spaces sit a short, step-free walk from the terminal entrance, so you’re on the curb in a couple of minutes rather than crossing the full lot.

The car park is open 24 hours, matching the airport’s flight schedule, and Accessible Parking follows the same operating hours and payment rules. You use the standard entry barrier and pay station system; there’s no separate gate for disabled drivers, so plan a few extra minutes to deal with tickets and payment machines.

Standard car park rates apply to Accessible Parking, with no published discount for blue badge or disabled permit holders at ANU. That means you pay the same as the rest of the main lot, typically an hourly rate that caps at a daily maximum, so longer trips are still manageable if you budget for full-day pricing.

Spaces are signed with the wheelchair symbol and sized for easier door opening, and they line up with the most direct path to the main terminal doors. The walk from the nearest accessible bay to check-in desks in terminal 1 usually runs under five minutes at a steady pace, with curb ramps in front of the building entrance.

Tip: if you’re traveling with someone who has limited mobility, drive first to the departures curb at terminal 1 to drop passengers and luggage, then loop back to park in an Accessible Parking bay and walk in light. It keeps your time in the sun and on the tarmac to a minimum.
