25–35 minutes from T1 to central Ahmedabad by BRTS
The BRTS Airport Link is a bus rapid transit line connecting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to key parts of Ahmedabad in about 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic near Delhi Darwaja and other junctions. It runs from the airport side toward central corridors of the Janmarg/BRTS network, which then branches toward areas like Lal Darwaja and Satellite Road.
Services typically operate from early morning around 6:00 to late evening close to 22:00, though exact first and last bus times change slightly by season and schedule updates. The airport stop sits outside the terminal area, so factor in a 5–10 minute walk from T1 or T2 arrivals to the BRTS stop, plus a few extra minutes if you’re hauling checked bags.
Fares run in the low double digits in INR, usually under ₹50 per person for most airport–city trips, paid either at station-level ticket counters or via contactless smart cards used across the Ahmedabad BRTS system. Keep small notes and coins (₹10, ₹20) handy; card sales and top-ups at the airport station can be slower during the evening bank of arrivals from 18:00–21:00.
The buses are standard city BRTS units with forward-facing seats, grab rails, and AC that works reasonably well outside of peak May–June heat. Luggage goes on the floor near the doors or in front of your seat, so with more than one large suitcase per person, a cab might still beat a crowded 17:30 departure toward the city. Expect more standing passengers on weekday office peaks around 9:00 and 18:00.
The airport link ties directly into other Janmarg corridors at intermediate stations, usually requiring one transfer for areas beyond the main central belt; that transfer can add 10–15 minutes, including platform changes. Signs at stations show route numbers and typical travel times in minutes between major stops, but the boards may lag reality by 5–10 minutes during monsoon or festival traffic.
Watch timings if you land after 21:30, because the last practical BRTS connection into central Ahmedabad may pass before you exit T2 immigration and customs, which can take 30–45 minutes on full international arrivals. Build a 20-minute buffer from scheduled landing to bus selection; if the next BRTS is more than 30 minutes out, switch to a prepaid taxi and save the bus for daytime runs.
One practical tip: before leaving the terminal, ask at the official airport information desk near arrivals for the day’s current BRTS airport route number and last-bus time, then set a timer on your phone for 10 minutes before that cutoff so you’re not sprinting across the forecourt with bags.
