Remote Parking

Remote

All AEY parking is in one on-site lot, right by Main

Akureyri Airport doesn’t run any remote or shuttle lot at all; every paid space sits in a single camera-controlled area a short walk from the small Main terminal. The “Remote Parking” name you might see in tools or aggregators doesn’t match how Isavia actually operates AEY’s parking in 2026.

Pricing currently runs around ISK 1,200 per day and ISK 8,000 per week, collected via license-plate cameras at the lot by the Main terminal building. You drive in, park, then pay online or at the machine before you exit, with no physical ticket or barrier to deal with.

The real walking distance is well under the 1 mile you’ll sometimes see listed; travelers report it as a 1–2 minute stroll from the farthest spots to the Main terminal doors. There’s no 15–30 minute shuttle loop at AEY because there is no separate off-site area that would justify a bus.

One TripAdvisor poster planning overnight parking summed it up simply as “there IS parking at AEY,” with no mention of zones like P1 or P2 or any remote option. That lines up with Iceland Review’s note that Akureyri uses a single parking zone, unlike Reykjavík City Airport’s separate P1 and P2 layout.

Since there’s no real remote lot, there’s nothing specific to avoid or game here: you get one post-security-scale regional terminal, one on-airport lot, one pricing table. The practical move: take a quick photo of the license plate and arrival time on your phone when you park so paying the correct ISK amount before departure is painless.
