Newsstand

T2

Near most T2 gates, Newsstand is the basic last-minute stop.

This small shop in Terminal T2 sits airside, so you reach it after security and before most international gates. Think grab-and-go rather than browsing session: a tight line of shelves, a single cashier, and quick turnover when flights to regional African hubs are boarding. It’s one of the few spots in T2 where you can still pick up print reading material close to the gates.

Stock focuses on magazines and newspapers, with a noticeable tilt toward Ethiopian and regional titles, plus some English-language options for about the price of a coffee in town. You’ll also see basic travel add-ons: pens, phone cables, power banks, earphones, and simple stationery that can rescue a work trip. Snacks lean packaged and shelf-stable; think chips and biscuits rather than fresh food, at typical airport markups.

Hours track the long-wave departures out of T2, often opening early in the morning bank and staying active into late-night flights to the Middle East and beyond. Payment usually works with major cards and local currency, but smaller card terminals in Addis can be temperamental, so carry some birr or a backup card. Don’t expect seating; this is a quick in-and-out stop between security and your gate.

Practical move: grab your reading material and a charging cable here in T2, then head straight to your gate to hunt for a working power outlet and a decent seat before the crowds build.
