Bookshop

T2

Five minutes from most T2 gates, Bookshop is your print fix.

This simple Bookshop in Terminal T2 sits airside, past security, near the main international departures area, so you can duck in after passport control without backtracking. Stock skews heavily to English-language paperbacks, Ethiopian history titles, and photo books about Addis and Lalibela. Expect pricing to run a bit above city bookstores, with paperbacks typically in the USD 10–15 range when converted from birr.

Opening hours generally track T2’s long-haul bank, with doors usually open from early morning departures around 06:00 through the late Ethiopian Airlines waves after 23:00. Shelves mix international bestsellers, kids’ books, and a handful of Amharic-language novels, plus the usual airport mix of magazines and puzzle books for the flight. If you need something slim for a 3–4 hour hop to Nairobi or Dar es Salaam, you’ll find plenty that fits in a small bag.

You won’t find stationery walls or big tech add-ons here; think a compact shop with a single central aisle and a few stands near the entrance. There are some glossy coffee-table titles on Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa that make decent last‑minute gifts for around USD 25–35 equivalent. Stock can be hit-or-miss on niche genres, so don’t bank on specific sci‑fi or academic titles.

Give yourself 10–15 minutes before boarding to browse: enough time to pick one book, pay in birr or card, and still reach any T2 gate on foot without rushing.
