- Airport Altenrhein AG, Flughafenstrasse 11, CH-9423 Altenrhein, Switzerland
At Altenrhein’s tiny T1, “People’s Lounge” basically means the generic lounge space by the gates.
The airport only has Terminal T1, and this lounge sits airside after security, so you clear passport and screening first, then find it near the small gate area used by People’s Viennaline and charters. Signage sometimes just says “Lounge,” which is why it can feel like a label error more than a separate product.
Hours run 06:00 to 20:00 daily, matching the early Zurich and Vienna bank. Morning departures around 07:00 fit neatly inside that window, so you can grab a seat before the first wave boards. Late arrivals after 20:00 get nothing, so don’t bank on it for an evening return.
Access works via Priority Pass and a walk-up day pass at roughly CHF 30, which in Swiss terms is the price of an airport sandwich-and-drink combo. If you already hold a Priority Pass through a credit card, treat this as a quiet seating upgrade over the public chairs rather than some premium club.
Space and food are basic by big-hub standards: think a few dozen seats, self-serve coffee from a machine, and light snacks instead of a hot buffet. Expect bottled soft drinks and maybe a couple of beers or house wine rather than a deep bar. If you want a full hot meal, you still end up at the landside restaurant in T1.
Because ACH handles only a handful of flights per day, crowding usually isn’t a problem, but the room can feel full if two charters line up within the same 60-minute window. Seats go quickly along the windows that face the single runway, so board-nerds should head there first for views of the Fokker and Embraer movements.
Wi‑Fi runs off the airport network, not a private lounge system, so speeds depend on how many people use ACH’s free internet at once. Power outlets are limited to a few walls and corners, so bring a charged power bank if you need to work for longer than 45–60 minutes.
Practical tip: if your layover or pre-flight wait is under 45 minutes, skip the CHF 30 day pass and sit at the public gates in T1; Priority Pass holders can still pop in briefly just to grab a drink and a quieter chair.
