€1.40–1.60 at weekends gets you straight into Arrecife
Bus Line 23 is the weekend and holiday backup for the T1–Arrecife run when Line 22 is off the clock. It links César Manrique–Lanzarote Airport (ACE) with Arrecife in about 15–20 minutes, with a flat fare around €1.40–1.60 paid directly to the driver in cash.
The stop you want is outside T1 arrivals, on the public road signed for IntercityBus Lanzarote lines 22/23; T2 doesn’t have the same range of services, so walk over if you land there. Buses generally run every 30–40 minutes on weekends and public holidays, and locals in Playa Blanca groups say they use 23 specifically on Saturdays and Sundays to get to work via Arrecife.
Timetables on the IntercityBus Lanzarote site show Line 23 following the airport–Playa Honda–Arrecife axis, with a slightly different stop pattern from 22. That pattern is why the ride can stretch to the full 20 minutes if the bus picks up at several intermediate stops in Playa Honda on the way into Arrecife.
Expect gaps: Tripadvisor threads mention that, compared with Line 22 on weekdays, Line 23 at weekends can mean 30–40 minute waits and the occasional bunching, with two buses close together then nothing for a while. Build the buffer and don’t plan this as a tight connection to a ferry or another intercity coach out of Arrecife.
How to use Bus Line 23 from ACE to Arrecife
- 1. Check the timetable: Before you leave baggage claim in T1, quickly check the combined 22/23 schedule on the IntercityBus Lanzarote website so you know if 23 is actually running for your weekend or holiday arrival time.
- 2. Walk to the stop: Exit T1 arrivals, follow signs for the bus stops on the main access road, and look for the pole showing “Línea 23 Arrecife”; if you land in T2, allow an extra 5–10 minutes to walk to this same stop.
- 3. Pay the driver: When the bus pulls up, board at the front door and pay the driver the €1.40–1.60 fare in coins or small notes; drivers on this route typically do not accept cards.
- 4. Ride to Arrecife: Stay on for roughly 15–20 minutes, passing through Playa Honda; most visitors get off at the main Arrecife stop near the bus station, which is clearly announced and marked on the posted route map onboard.
- 5. Connect onward: From Arrecife, some workers report sharing a taxi to outer suburbs to keep total costs lower than a direct airport–suburb taxi, often cutting what would be a €20+ ride down by several euros each.
One last tip: regulars say to be at the stop 5 minutes early, as Line 23 buses sometimes arrive, board, and pull out again in under 2 minutes at the airport.
