T1’s post-security World Duty Free is basically your main shop

Right after security in Terminal 1, you’re funneled through World Duty Free, one of the only real retail stops alongside WHSmith. It’s airside, so you’re fine to browse right up until boarding from any ABZ gate. Layout is the standard walk-through: liquor and Scotch in the middle, perfume and cosmetics to one side, confectionery and snacks near the exit back toward the seating area.

Liquor runs through the regular big brands plus a heavier-than-average Scotch whisky shelf for a regional airport. You’ll see Speyside and Highland names you actually recognize from supermarket shelves, not just tourist gift packs. Prices sit in the normal UK duty-free band; don’t expect Heathrow-level promos, but you can shave a few pounds off a 1L bottle versus city-centre shops. Tobacco sits in a separate section with clear allowance boards for EU vs non‑EU flights.

Perfume and cosmetics are standard World Duty Free stock: think 50–100ml bottles from the usual designer lines, often in 2‑for‑£X promos, plus travel sets and miniatures. Chocolate is mostly big-box Lindt, Toblerone and Cadbury gift sleeves near the tills, handy if you skipped souvenirs in town. There’s very little in the way of local food product beyond the odd whisky-branded fudge or shortbread tin.

Frequent flyers on Trustpilot call Aberdeen “basic” and say the only thing to do is walk through duty free and WHSmith, so set expectations accordingly. Range feels tight compared with Edinburgh or Heathrow, especially on niche spirits and high-end skincare. Shelves are usually orderly, but during early-morning oil‑worker waves around 05:30–07:30, the whisky section can get crowded. Tip: if you care about choice, do a single, focused lap as soon as you clear security, then head straight to your gate’s seating.
