Near the main departures seating in T1, the Smoking Room sits as a basic indoor spot to have a cigarette without leaving the terminal. It’s public access, so anyone in Terminal 1 can walk in from the general waiting area before boarding. Think small glass box rather than lounge: standing room or a few simple seats, usually a quick in-and-out stop between security and your gate.
Inside Terminal 1 at Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport, this is one of the only places you can legally smoke after passing security. That alone makes it useful on busy morning and evening departure banks, when stepping back outside the terminal would risk cutting it too close for a flight. If you’re on a domestic hop and get dropped at the airport early, this room keeps you from doing multiple trips through the entrance doors just for a cigarette.
Don’t expect extras here beyond four walls and an ashtray. No staff, no reception desk, no drinks, no snacks, and no charging points reported. Lighting is bright, the room is compact, and you’re surrounded by terminal glass around the general departure waiting area. It works if you need nicotine before a 60–90 minute flight; it’s not somewhere you’d sit for an hour with your phone.
Because it’s near the main seating in T1, you can usually keep half an eye on the nearby FIDS screens for gate changes or boarding calls. That said, announcements can sound muffled through the glass when the room is busy, so check your airline’s app and the screens before you step inside, especially if boarding is inside 20 minutes. Treat it as a pit stop, not a second waiting room.
Practical tip: go to the restroom in Terminal 1 first, then use the Smoking Room as your last stop before walking straight to your gate; it saves a lot of backtracking across the departures area.
