Marcus Trenton
Twelve years as a Delta gate agent at ATL. Took early retirement in 2022, now writes part-time about southern US hubs and what the published timetables hide.
Marcus spent twelve years on the line at Delta in Atlanta, mostly at T-Concourse and the B gates, before taking early retirement in October 2022 with a stiff back and a long list of opinions about how American airline operations actually work versus how the published timetables pretend they work.
He writes for airport.flights as a paid freelance contributor, roughly twice a month, focused on the southern US hubs he knows from the ground side. His beat is the gap between the customer’s seat-map view and the gate-agent’s reality, with a particular soft spot for ATL’s T-Concourse and a fondness for explaining why people misunderstand how connecting banks work.
He still holds Delta Diamond on what feels like sheer momentum and most weekends drives out to ATL to drink a coffee on the rental-car shuttle loop because he says the soundtrack of a hub airport is the only thing that calms him down. He has tried to retire properly. It hasn’t taken.
