Babel Restaurant

Restaurant

E

Gate E restaurants thin out fast; Babel sits near the central E pier and covers the “real meal” gap.

Babel Restaurant sits airside in Terminal E at Zurich Airport, so you’re cleared through security and passport control before you eat. Figure a 5–10 minute walk from most E-gates, depending on whether you’re at the far ends of the pier. It operates through the main long-haul bank, so it usually opens early morning and runs into the late evening to catch North America and Asia departures from E.

The menu leans Eastern Mediterranean with Swiss-airport pricing to match: expect mains in the CHF 20–30 range and soft drinks around CHF 5–6. You’ll see grilled meats, mezze-style starters, and flatbreads rather than burgers and pasta. If you’ve just come off a long flight into E and want something heavier than a sandwich from the nearby grab-and-go spots, this is the sit‑down option that actually feels like a meal.

Seating is standard terminal-restaurant tables with direct views over the E concourse and some sightlines toward widebodies parked at nearby gates like E46 and E48. Service runs on airport time: staff keep an eye on boarding times printed on your BP, but still, give yourself 45–60 minutes for a relaxed starter and main during peak evening waves. There’s alcohol on the menu, though prices climb quickly once you get into wine by the glass.

Lines stack up around the 11:30–13:30 lunch window and again 18:00–20:00 when transatlantic flights leave from Terminal E. If your gate is posted at the far tip, pay your bill when your flight shows “boarding soon” on the overhead screens rather than waiting for a final call.
