E-gates flyers hit avec when everything else is shut
Right in Terminal E’s post-security zone, avec functions as Zurich Airport’s late-hour safety net for food and drinks. It’s a compact Swiss convenience-store style spot, not a sit-down restaurant, so think fast grab-and-go between E41 and nearby long-haul gates. You’re still in the non-Schengen E pier, so this works well if you’ve already cleared passport control and don’t want to backtrack to A or B/D.
Avec in E stocks cold sandwiches, salads, pastries, chocolate bars and bottled drinks at typical Switzerland airport prices, so plan on around CHF 6–9 for a basic sandwich and CHF 3–5 for coffee or soft drinks. It skews more to packaged food than hot items, so don’t come here looking for a full plate of rösti or a slow espresso at the bar. For a quick sugar hit before a red-eye out of E, it beats trekking back to the main Airside Center.
Hours at this E-pier avec generally track long-haul bank times, opening early in the morning and staying open into the late evening to catch the US and Asia departures. You’re paying an airport premium, but it’s still cheaper than many sit-down spots upstairs or back in A. Grab water, snacks and maybe a sandwich here before boarding; prices on board Swiss and partners can run several francs higher for similar items.
Tip: if your long-haul out of E departs after 21:00, swing by avec as soon as you reach the pier; late flights can mean shorter hours and emptier shelves closer to last call.
