The airport markets this as short stay, but in practice everyone uses the same public car park for drop‑offs, pick‑ups, and overnight parking. The lot sits right next to T1, so you avoid shuttles entirely. Compared with off‑airport lots about 1 km away that bundle shuttle rides, this on‑site option trades higher 24‑hour pricing for a true park‑and‑walk setup and minimal faff with luggage.

Payment runs through pay‑on‑foot machines inside the terminal, and once you pay the ticket is valid for only 15 minutes to exit. That 15‑minute window matters if you are doing a curbside pick‑up after a 2‑hour, 7.60 € stay. Business travellers needing an R‑1 invoice must go to the parking payment desk in Arrivals and request it at payment time; the airport says retroactive invoices are not possible at all.

Watch out for lost tickets: the airport terms say lost cards are billed under specific “lost ticket” rules, which reviewers describe as expensive compared with the normal 24 € daily cap. Frequent flyers on FlyerTalk often skip parking entirely and use Uber or taxis, which they call “fast and cheap” for early‑morning runs. If you still drive, take a photo of your ticket and car position the moment you park.
