Toronto Pearson is Canada’s busiest airport and Air Canada’s principal hub. It runs on two terminals, and because they are separate buildings, the connections between them — and the trains into the city — are the things to get straight.
The terminals
Terminal 1 is Air Canada’s home, along with its Star Alliance partners and several others. Terminal 3 handles WestJet, many international carriers, and other airlines. The two are linked by the LINK Train, a free automated people mover that runs between Terminal 1, Terminal 3, and the parking and UP Express station. If your connection crosses terminals, ride the LINK and allow time — an inter-terminal transfer means rescreening.
A useful Pearson feature for US-bound travelers: it has US preclearance, so if you are flying to the States you clear US customs and immigration before you board, and arrive as a domestic passenger. Build in time for that process on departure.
Getting into Toronto
