Drivers use the same roadway as private cars, so expect a short walk of about 2–4 minutes from the baggage belts.

From the Main Terminal to downtown Vancouver, most riders see app quotes in the CAD $35–$55 range in normal traffic, with surge pricing kicking in during the 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:00 peaks. Compared with a metered taxi that often lands around CAD $35–$45 to downtown, rideshare pays off more for 2–4 people splitting a fare or for trips out to suburbs like Richmond or Burnaby. All three apps let you see the price before confirming, which removes the guesswork of a running meter.

At the South Terminal, rideshare coverage is thinner but still workable, with pickups outside the small arrivals area on the ground-level curb. Wait times here can stretch to 10–15 minutes during midday if no cars are nearby, compared with 3–7 minutes at the Main Terminal. If your flight lands at South and your app shows no drivers, the fallback is the free YVR shuttle to the Main Terminal, then a rideshare from there.

Most regular downtown hotels along Granville, Burrard, and Robson sit 12–25 km from the airport, so rides usually run 20–35 minutes depending on Highway 99 traffic and Lions Gate or Cambie Bridge bottlenecks.

For arrivals after 23:00, rideshare coverage usually beats late-night transit frequencies, but car supply can dip, pushing wait times over 15 minutes. If your group has more than 4 passengers or extra ski gear and golf bags, check the XL or larger-vehicle option in the app, which often adds only CAD $10–$20 over the base fare. One practical tip: pull up all three apps at once at YVR, compare the CAD quotes for your exact address, and book the cheapest one before you step past the sliding doors to Level 2.
