China Duty Free

T5

T5 China Duty Free sits just past security in departures

You hit China Duty Free shortly after security in Terminal T5, so it’s an easy stop without backtracking to your gate. This is the main duty-free option in the terminal, covering liquor, cigarettes, beauty, and snacks in one loop. Think international hub standard rather than a small outpost.

Liquor and tobacco run on typical China duty-free pricing, usually a bit under downtown Xi’an shops for big brands like Johnnie Walker and Hennessy. Staff push multi-bottle deals and carton discounts, so look at the promo signs before you grab a single bottle or pack. If you need something quick, the self-checkout-style counters move faster than the staffed ones.

The cosmetics and skincare section leans heavily on brands like Lancôme, Estée Lauder, and Shiseido, with frequent “2 for” bundles around RMB 1,000–1,500. Stock changes with airline schedules, so don’t bank on a specific shade or limited edition set. If you’re connecting onward, remember some countries cap liquid allowances even for sealed duty-free bags.

Snacks and small gifts skew to Chinese products: local teas, packaged dates, and boxed Xi’an-style sweets usually between RMB 50–200. It’s more airport-gift pricing than supermarket value, but fine for a last-minute present before a CZ or MU flight. Grab snacks here if your late-night departure is after 22:00, since many smaller T5 shops shut earlier.

Tip: check your airline’s cabin bag limit before buying heavy bottles in T5; gate agents at XIY do weigh carry-ons on some routes, especially to Japan and Korea.
