Gate-side maki near T1 departures at Viracopos

Sushi Bar sits airside in Terminal 1, after security, and runs daily from 10:00 to 20:00. It’s one of the few full-seat Japanese spots in VCP, so it fills a gap between the quick snack kiosks and heavier Brazilian plates. Expect casual tables and a short wait during the early evening bank of departures around 18:00.

The menu leans classic: maki rolls, nigiri, temaki cones, and a few hot appetizers. Prices land in the $$ band for the airport: a roll is usually in the mid-range compared with sandwiches or burgers in T1. The headline item is the Spicy Tuna Roll, which shows up on most tables and is the easiest order if you don’t want to think too hard.

Portions stay moderate, so plan on two rolls or a combo plate if you want a full meal before a 3–4 hour flight. There are typically a couple of bento-style sets that combine sushi, a small salad, and miso soup; these come out faster than ordering multiple à la carte items. Soft drinks and standard beers run at typical airport markups, roughly one and a half times city prices in Campinas.

Service pace lines up with airport timing: count on about 20–30 minutes from sitting down to finishing a basic order. That’s fine for a one-hour gap between boarding calls, but tight for anything under 40 minutes. Staff usually flags last boarding groups for flights to São Paulo or Rio if you mention your gate number at order time.

Tip: if your flight leaves from a remote T1 bus gate, sit closer to the restaurant entrance, pay right after your last roll, and walk out with at least 20 minutes to spare for the downstairs bus hold room.
