Gate-side picanha in T1 without leaving the secure area
Churrascaria sits airside in Terminal 1 at Viracopos (VCP), after security and before the international gates. It runs from 11:00 to 23:00, so it catches both late lunches and most evening departures. This is a Brazilian steakhouse setup, not a quick snack stand, and the $$$ pricing reflects that.
The signature move here is the picanha, usually served in generous slices with classic sides like rice, beans, and farofa. Expect mains to land in the higher price bracket for the terminal, in line with a full-service churrascaria rather than a fast-food grill. Portions lean large enough that one main can work for a not-too-hungry pair on a short layover.
Service runs on restaurant time, not boarding time, so a sit-down meal can easily run 45–60 minutes, especially during the 18:00–21:00 bank of departures in T1. If your flight starts boarding inside 40 minutes, this is tight. Ask for the check when the mains hit the table if your boarding pass shows a time inside that peak window.
Compared with other T1 options at VCP, this is one of the few spots focused on steak and traditional Brazilian plates rather than sandwiches or pastries. Drinks menu usually includes Brazilian beers and the standard soft drinks; cocktails cost more and push the bill well past typical airport lunch pricing. For a quick taste of churrasco, you can share a single picanha plate and skip starters.
Tip: Sit closer to the entrance facing the T1 concourse so you can keep eyes on departure screens and walk to most gates in under 5–10 minutes once you pay.
