Gate-side bottles before T1 security lines get long
Veneto Wines sits airside in Terminal T1 at Venice Marco Polo, a few minutes’ walk from most Schengen gates. It focuses on regional bottles, so you’ll see names from Valpolicella, Prosecco, and Soave more than big international labels. Expect prices to start around €8-10 for basic prosecco and move up quickly for Amarone and single-estate wines.
The shop opens roughly with the first departures in T1 and trades until the late-evening Ryanair and easyJet waves thin out, so early-morning and 21:00 shoppers are both fine. Shelves are split between still reds, whites, and a solid chunk of sparkling, with DOC and DOCG wines clearly marked on front labels and shelf tags. Staff usually speak at least Italian and English, handy if you’re trying to line up a specific grape or style before boarding.
You’ll find standard 750 ml bottles as well as some 375 ml halves and gift boxes in the €15-40 range, which pack better if you’re tight on cabin space. Spirits and grappas from the Veneto region sit near the counter, often in boxed sets that survive overhead bins better than loose glass. Duty-free rules depend on your final destination, so keep your boarding pass handy at checkout for proper pricing.
One tip: if you care about packing, grab a padded bottle sleeve here; it’s cheaper than buying one again at home and saves you from trusting a thin paper bag in the overhead bin.
