Gate-side coffee stop before T1 security at Motta
Motta sits in Venice Marco Polo’s main T1 landside area, handy if you’re early and don’t want to head through security yet. It’s a classic Italian bar setup: counter for quick espresso, a few tables for a slower sit-down. Expect standard airport pricing rather than city-centre bargains, but still less painful than many airside spots in VCE.
Coffee runs in the €1.50–€2.00 range for an espresso or macchiato, with cappuccinos and lattes a bit higher. You’ll usually see fresh cornetti and pastries on the counter in the morning, plus simple sandwiches and tramezzini through the day. Quality matches a decent city bar in Mestre rather than a tourist trap on the Grand Canal, which is a win for an airport café.
Opening hours generally track the first and last banks of departures from T1, so early-morning flyers around 05:00–06:00 usually find it open. It’s useful if your airline check-in desk isn’t open yet and you need somewhere to sit with a coffee and keep an eye on the departures board. Card payments are accepted, but keep a few euros if you want to move fast at the bar.
Best move: stand at the counter, order an espresso and a cornetto, drink, pay, and go – you’ll be in and out in under 10 minutes. If your time buffer is thin, skip table service and stick to counter orders to avoid waiting for the bill.
