Café Marco Polo is more label than landmark at VCE T1

In Venice Marco Polo’s T1, “Café Marco Polo” usually means the standard airport bar-counter you see near the gates, not a clearly branded standalone spot. Expect the usual Italian airport mix: espresso, bottled water, soft drinks, basic sandwiches, and pre-packed snacks, priced a notch above downtown Venice cafés but normal for an EU hub. You’re paying airport markup, not paying for a destination venue.

Hours in T1 generally track the first and last departures, so figure roughly 05:00 until around 22:00–23:00, with the café open whenever the nearby gates are moving. It sits airside after security, so you clear checks first, then look for the bar area carrying the Marco Polo name on overhead signage. If you see draft beer taps, a glass pastry case, and the word “Marco” on the fascia, you’re in the right place.

Coffee runs close to €1.50–€2.00 for a straight espresso and €2.50–€3.50 for cappuccino; sandwiches and tramezzini usually sit in the €5–€8 band. Quality is fine for a quick airport hit, but nothing here earns destination status compared with a proper bar in Cannaregio or Dorsoduro. Use it to top up on caffeine or grab a snack when you have 20–40 minutes before boarding, not as your big “last meal in Italy.”

No specific dish stands out in traveller reports, so play it safe: espresso or macchiato, a packaged snack, and maybe a plain prosciutto or cheese panino if you’re hungry. Skip anything that looks like it has sat in the chilled case for more than a few hours, especially mayo-heavy tramezzini. If you want real spritz standards, you’re still better off in Venice proper than at any bar in T1.

Practical move: hit the landside options in T1 or eat in town, then use Café Marco Polo only for a last espresso and water bottle on the way to your gate, aiming to be through security at least 60 minutes before a Schengen departure.
