Sun Tran Route 11 city bus from TUS

One-way fare is $1.75 on Sun Tran Route 11, the main city bus link from Tucson International Airport (TUS) to town. The stop sits at the Commercial Roadway outside the Main terminal, so you walk a few minutes past the usual rideshare and shuttle pickup signs.

Route 11 runs between TUS and central Tucson, connecting to other Sun Tran lines along the way. Buses typically operate from early morning into the evening, but late-night coverage can thin out after about 10:00 p.m., so check the current timetable before banking on it for a red-eye.

You pay on board with cash or a SunGO card, and drivers do not make change, so bring exact bills or coins for the $1.75 fare. SunGO cards are sold at vending machines in town, not usually at the Main terminal, so most airport riders just pay cash for a single ride.

The Route 11 stop sign on the Commercial Roadway shows the route number and direction; look for buses signed for “Route 11 – Alvernon” heading away from the airport. The ride into the Alvernon corridor and connecting routes can take around 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

Luggage space is limited to regular bus seating and standing room; there is no dedicated bag rack like you might see on some airport shuttles. If you have more than one large checked bag over about 50 lb, this can get annoying at peak times when Route 11 fills with local commuters.

Sun Tran’s standard rules apply on Route 11: no open alcohol, keep bags out of aisles, and front seats are reserved for riders with disabilities. Buses are wheelchair-accessible via a ramp at the front door, and most have bike racks that hold up to two bicycles.

Practical tip: pull up the live Sun Tran tracker and aim to be at the Commercial Roadway stop 5–10 minutes before the scheduled Route 11 time; Tucson traffic can swing early or late, and missing one bus can add a long wait to your TUS exit.
