Intercity bus

Single Greyhound stop serves Tucson International’s intercity bus riders

Greyhound Connection links Tucson International Airport (TUS) to cities beyond Tucson, using a shared stop on the airport’s Main terminal loop where hotel and off-airport shuttles also pull in. This is an intercity coach option, not a local bus, so think regional trips rather than quick hops into downtown.

Buses use the commercial vehicle area on the arrivals (lower) level at the Main terminal, the same side of the building as baggage claim carousels 1–7. Follow signs for “Ground Transportation” and then “Shuttles/Buses”; you’re walking 3–5 minutes from the doors by baggage claim to the curb where Greyhound pulls in.

Greyhound typically runs a limited number of departures per day from the airport stop, often timed around midday and evening, so you want a ticket with a specific schedule rather than showing up 10 minutes before a random bus. Check the exact time for your date; intercity coaches here do not follow a high-frequency, every-15-minute-style pattern.

Seats on Greyhound Connection are reserved, and tickets usually cost more than the $1.50 Sun Tran local bus that serves Tucson, but you’re paying for longer-distance travel out of Pima County. Buy in advance through Greyhound’s website or app and keep the confirmation number handy; drivers at TUS scan or check digital tickets at boarding, and they don’t always have bandwidth to troubleshoot purchases curbside.

Checked luggage goes under the bus in the cargo bays at the Main terminal stop, with standard Greyhound rules applying: typically 1 checked and 1 carry-on included, then extra fees for additional bags. Give yourself 10–15 minutes at the curb to tag your bag, confirm your destination city with the driver, and grab anything you need from checked luggage before it disappears under the coach.

There’s no Greyhound office inside Tucson International, just the curbside stop along the Main terminal roadway, so handle changes or refunds online or by phone before you roll up. If your flight lands late into TUS and you miss the day’s last bus, build a backup plan to stay at an airport hotel within a 5–10 minute shuttle ride.

Smart move: land at TUS, hit the restroom by baggage claim, grab water or snacks from the Main terminal’s pre-security shops near the ticket counters, then head straight to the Greyhound stop with a full battery and your ticket already pulled up.
