Lyft and Uber both use the Rideshare Pickup Zone at TUS

The Rideshare Pickup Zone at Tucson International Airport (TUS) serves all app-based TNCs, including Uber and Lyft, for the Main Terminal. You request your car from the app only after you’ve collected bags on the lower level baggage claim area to avoid your driver timing out.

From the Main Terminal baggage claim, it takes about 2–4 minutes on foot to reach the signed Rideshare Pickup Zone outside. Follow the “App Rides / Rideshare” signs out the doors near baggage claim and continue to the designated curb area, which is separate from the regular taxi and personal vehicle pickup lanes.

Most rides into central Tucson from TUS run roughly $18–$30 in normal traffic, with surge pricing hitting higher during busy Friday evenings and major events at the University of Arizona. Downtown Tucson is about 8–10 miles from the airport, and the drive typically takes 15–25 minutes depending on I-10 traffic and lights once you leave the airport loop.

Both Uber and Lyft pick up only at the official Rideshare Pickup Zone, not at departures on the upper level, and airport police sometimes ask drivers to move if they stop in the wrong lane. The TUS public Wi‑Fi is free near baggage claim, so you can confirm your driver’s license plate and car model in the app before stepping out to the curb.

Late-night arrivals after about 11:00 p.m. can see longer wait times, sometimes 10–20 minutes, especially on weeknights when fewer drivers are on the south side of town. Early-morning flights around 4:30–6:00 a.m. usually still have active rideshare drivers, but prices can spike if several flights land close together.

Pro tip: if prices are surging above 2x, wait inside near baggage claim for 5–10 minutes and watch the app; at TUS, surge often drops quickly once one or two flights clear and drivers circle back to the Rideshare Pickup Zone.
