Shuttles run every few minutes from the Main Terminal curb

The Rental Car Center Shuttle at Tucson International Airport (TUS) is an airport bus that runs from the Main Terminal baggage claim curb to the off-site rental car facility on East Corona Road. The ride usually takes about 5 minutes in normal traffic, so total curb-to-counter time often stays under 10–15 minutes, even with a short wait.

Pickup is on the lower level outside baggage claim doors 5 and 6 in the Main Terminal, where you’ll see signs for "Rental Car Shuttle" and a marked curb zone. The shuttle serves all major rental brands in one trip, so you don’t have to pick a specific company bus; just board the next one that arrives.

The shuttle runs daily from early morning through late evening, broadly aligned with the first and last commercial arrivals at TUS, which often means service starting around 4:30–5:00 a.m. and continuing past 11:00 p.m. If you land after midnight on a delayed flight, follow airport staff guidance at baggage claim, since they’ll know if a late shuttle is still operating.

At the rental car facility on East Corona Road, the shuttle drops you at a shared entrance serving counters for companies like Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National. Returns work the same in reverse: follow the "Rental Car Return" signs back to this facility, drop the car, then board the shuttle for the 5-minute ride back to the Main Terminal departures level.

All rides on the Rental Car Center Shuttle are free; there’s no separate ticket, and you do not need a reservation with a specific rental company just to board. Bags go with you on the bus, and standard carry-on plus one checked-size suitcase per person is normal on these airport shuttles at TUS.

Allow about 20 minutes before your airline’s check-in cutoff when returning a car, especially during the 5:00–7:30 a.m. departure rush at Tucson. Build a little buffer: plan to be at the rental facility shuttle stop at least 45–60 minutes before boarding time so you’re not sprinting from the Main Terminal security line to your gate.
