NT$200–300 on Uber usually gets you into central Taipei
Uber runs at Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) as a standard rideshare option, useful if you like seeing the fare estimate in the app before you move. Rides into central Taipei typically land in the NT$200–300 range, and the drive runs about 15–20 minutes in normal daytime traffic. Both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 sit close to downtown, so ride times stay short compared with Taoyuan (TPE).
Pickups happen curbside at the public arrival areas of TSA’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, not in a special rideshare lot. You’ll request your ride in the app once you’ve collected bags, then walk out to the regular car lanes in front of the terminal doors. Because Songshan is a city airport, the pickup point usually feels more like a downtown curb than a big international airport queue, and cars can loop around in a couple of minutes.
Plan on 15–20 minutes door to door from TSA to Taipei Main Station, depending on traffic on Dunhua North Road and Section 1 of Civic Boulevard. Early mornings before 07:00 and late evenings after 22:00 often fall closer to 15 minutes, while weekday rush hours can push closer to 20 minutes. Compared with the Brown Line MRT from Songshan Airport Station to Zhongxiao Fuxing or Daan, Uber often saves 5–10 minutes if you have two or more people and luggage.
Pricing usually sits in the NT$200–300 band for central Taipei districts like Zhongzheng, Da’an, and Xinyi, but the app may show slightly higher numbers in heavy rain or peak commute windows around 08:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00. Late-night rides after 23:00 can still stay close to NT$200 thanks to the short distance from TSA. If your hotel is closer to Neihu or Nangang, expect the Uber quote to edge above NT$300 due to extra kilometers.
There isn’t much crowd data yet for TSA-specific Uber waits, but most riders report pickup times in the 3–8 minute range at other Taipei locations, helped by the airport’s central-city location. Because Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 share the same road system, you can sometimes shave 2–3 minutes off your wait by dropping a pin at the door number the driver messages in chat. If the estimate in the app suddenly jumps, cancel within the free window and rebook rather than standing on the curb for 15 minutes.
Tip: buy a Taiwan eSIM or load airport Wi‑Fi before leaving baggage claim, then request your Uber while you still have solid signal inside the terminal; that way the car is already on the loop by the time you reach the curb.
