Songshan Airport Station

Taipei Metro station

Taipei Metro station

Exit TSA Terminal 1 straight into Songshan Airport Station

Songshan Airport Station on the Taipei Metro sits directly under Taipei Songshan Airport, linked by walkways from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Trains run roughly from 6:00 AM to around midnight, so most early-morning and late-evening flights line up with service hours. You stay indoors the whole way, escalator to concourse, then straight down to the metro platforms.

This is a regular Taipei Metro stop, not a premium airport line, so fares into central Taipei sit in the low NT$20–40 range depending on distance. The station is on the Wenhu (Brown) Line, which connects you to Zhongxiao Fuxing in about 10–15 minutes and Taipei Zoo in roughly 30–35 minutes. Ticket machines take coins, notes, and EasyCard, so you can tap in with the same card you use on buses and other metro lines.

From the arrivals level in Terminal 1, follow signs for MRT/Metro and walk 3–5 minutes to reach the station entrance. If you land in Terminal 2, plan on around 5–7 minutes of indoor walking to hit the same corridor. Elevators run from the departures and arrivals floors down to the ticket hall, so luggage and strollers are fine. The direct airport connection means there’s no street crossing or outdoor segment.

Regulars use Songshan Airport Station instead of trekking from nearby stops like Zhongxiao Dunhua, shaving 10–15 minutes of sidewalk walking with bags. Trains on the Brown Line show up every few minutes at peak times and typically every 6–10 minutes later at night, so you rarely wait long. If you’re catching the metro close to the 12:00 AM shutdown, check the last-train time posted on the platform boards before tapping in.

Step-by-step from terminal to Songshan Airport Station

  • 1. After landing at Taipei Songshan, clear immigration and collect bags in Terminal 1 or 2.
  • 2. Follow the overhead signs marked “MRT” or “Metro Songshan Airport Station” toward the basement level.
  • 3. Take the elevator or escalator down one level to the metro corridor; walking time is about 3–7 minutes from either terminal.
  • 4. At the ticket hall, buy a single-journey token or top up an EasyCard at the machines; fares into central Taipei typically run around NT$20–40.
  • 5. Pass through the gates and head to the Wenhu (Brown) Line platforms in the direction of Taipei Zoo or toward Zhongxiao Fuxing, depending on your transfer plan.
  • 6. Board the next train; at peak, trains come every few minutes, and off-peak roughly every 6–10 minutes between 6:00 AM and about 12:00 AM.
  • 7. Keep an eye on station displays for transfer stops such as Zhongxiao Fuxing if you need the Blue Line for Taipei Main Station.
  • 8. On your return to TSA, ride back to Songshan Airport Station, exit the gates, and follow “Airport Terminal” signs back upstairs to Terminal 1 or 2.

One last tip: land with a small stash of NT$ coins or an EasyCard already loaded so you can hit the metro gates within 2–3 minutes of reaching the station.
