Tiffin

T2

Near the international gates in T2, Tiffin covers quick south Indian basics

Tiffin sits airside in Terminal T2 at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, a short walk from the main international departure gates. It runs through core departure bank hours, roughly matching the late-night and early-morning flights that dominate T2. If you want a dosa or idli before a 02:30 departure, this is one of the few sit-down style options open past midnight in the terminal.

The menu leans on Kerala and south Indian staples: plain dosa, masala dosa, idli, vada, upma, plus basic North Indian curries and a couple of Indo-Chinese dishes. Expect pricing in the ₹150–₹350 range for most plates, with filter coffee and tea usually under ₹100. Portions run smaller than city restaurants in Thiruvananthapuram, so plan on two items if you are actually hungry after a long train or bus ride to the airport.

Food comes reasonably fast by airport standards, often in under 10–15 minutes for dosa or idli when the T2 security queue is not spilling back toward check-in. You order and pay at the counter, then wait at your table for staff to bring food out. It’s all standard melamine plates and steel tumblers, nothing fancy, but easier to manage than balancing a tray at the gate when boarding for an international sector like TRV–DXB or TRV–DOH.

Tiffin does vegetarian food best, especially the basic sambar and coconut chutney that come with dosas and idlis. Meat dishes and gravies can sit in the pans a bit too long during slow midday periods when there are fewer widebody departures, so stick with dosa, idli, vada, and snacks if you’re catching an afternoon flight. Expect spice levels close to local Kerala norms, not toned down for tourists.

Practical tip: eat here before heading to your gate in T2, because some remote stand bus departures start boarding 40 minutes before takeoff and you won’t find more than packaged snacks once you leave the main departures area.
