T2’s Curry Kitchen sits landside, before security checks
Curry Kitchen in Terminal T2 is one of the few full-menu spots you can hit before heading through security at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. It sits in the departures area of the international terminal, so you can grab a plate of hot food while family is still with you. Expect a straightforward South Indian focus: rice, curries, and basic tiffin-style items rather than fast food burgers.
Prices sit in the mid-range for India: think around ₹250–₹400 for a basic vegetarian curry and rice, with non-veg mains landing higher. Portions run generous compared with what you’ll get on most international economy flights out of TRV, so this is a decent “last proper meal” option before a 4–6 hour sector to the Gulf or Southeast Asia. Soft drinks and bottled water are usually marked up like any airport, but still under ₹100.
Service runs on airport time, not city-restaurant time, so build a 20–30 minute buffer if you want a made-to-order dish instead of something sitting in the bain-marie. T2’s security queues can spike past 25 minutes in late-night bank departure waves (23:00–02:00), so don’t linger here with a boarding pass that says “final call in 15.” Morning flights around 06:00–09:00 tend to be calmer, and breakfast items are more likely to be fresh off the griddle.
Menu depth changes with the time of day: you’ll usually see more South Indian options like dosa and idli earlier, then simple thali-style plates and curries closer to the late-night Gulf departures from T2. If you’re sensitive to spice, flag it clearly; kitchens at TRV sometimes default to Kerala heat levels that can surprise someone connecting from Europe. Stick to items that turn over quickly, like standard veg curry and dal, rather than anything too niche or elaborate.
Tip: eat here first, then clear T2 security; post-security options shrink fast, especially on late-night banks.
