Tel Aviv HaHagana Line

Train

Train 10-15 minutes unclear

10–15 minutes from Terminal 3 to Tel Aviv HaHagana

This train line runs directly from Ben Gurion Airport’s Terminal 3 to Tel Aviv HaHagana in about 10–15 minutes, so it suits anyone staying in central/south Tel Aviv or catching intercity buses from the nearby central bus station. Trains run throughout the day with regular headways (often every 20–30 minutes at busy times), and you board from the station one level below the arrivals hall.

Most arrivals use the airport rail station under Terminal 3, then ride north to Tel Aviv HaHagana, one of the first city stops on the line. The station sits a short walk from Tel Aviv’s central bus station, so it pairs well with Dan and Egged buses or shared sherut taxis heading deeper into the city or onward to places like Jerusalem or Be’er Sheva.

Exact fares shift with Israel Railways pricing, but travellers consistently report that airport to HaHagana plus a city bus or shared taxi comes out much cheaper than a direct taxi from TLV to central Tel Aviv. You tap in and out with a Rav-Kav or similar payment method, and the total cost for train plus bus usually lands well under a typical 150–200 ILS cab ride to beachfront hotels.

HaHagana itself is not in the tourist core: it sits south of central Tel Aviv, a few kilometers from areas like Rothschild, Dizengoff, and the beachfront. From the station, many people hop on Dan bus lines, a sherut, or a short 10–20 minute taxi ride to hotels along the sea or around Habima and Ibn Gabirol.

What regulars do: riders headed closer to Azrieli, Sarona, or the older north side often stay on past HaHagana to Tel Aviv HaShalom or even Tel Aviv Savidor Center, adding only 3–8 extra minutes on the train. People bound for long‑distance buses, on the other hand, time their arrival at HaHagana to connect smoothly with intercity departures from the central bus station.

Watch out for rush hours. Morning and evening trains into HaHagana can be packed with commuters, and you may stand with luggage for the entire 10–15 minute ride. Elevators and escalators at HaHagana also back up then, adding an extra 5–10 minutes to get out if you have big bags or a stroller.

One tip: before you commit to HaHagana, drop your hotel address into a map and compare transfer time from HaHagana vs HaShalom or Savidor; sometimes riding one extra stop saves 20 minutes of bus or taxi on the street.
