Car service Roughly 10-15 min to central Tallinn similar to taxis

Late-night arrivals with three huge suitcases and kids? Book a private transfer.

Private transfer pickup at Tallinn Airport T1 is a pre-booked car service that runs about 10–15 minutes into central Tallinn, same timing as a regular taxi. You arrange it in advance online or via email; there’s no fixed price at the airport desk because costs vary by provider, group size, and vehicle class. Cars meet you landside in the public arrivals hall, usually right after you exit customs.

Most companies quote a flat rate into the Old Town or city center, often a bit higher than a single taxi but competitive versus paying for two cabs for 4–5 people. One TripAdvisor reviewer said their driver had them at their hotel in under 15 minutes, but flagged it as pricier than a standard airport cab. For a family of five, another traveller felt the total fare was only slightly more than running two taxis to the ferry terminal.

Pickup works the same for all flights: arrive into T1, walk straight out of the secure area, and look for your name on a sign in the small arrivals hall. Drivers typically stand near the meeting point just by the exit doors to the car park, a 1–2 minute walk from the baggage belts. If you can’t see your name, call or message the driver via the number or app contact given in your booking confirmation.

Watch out for extra waiting or parking fees if your flight is delayed by more than the usual 15–30 minute buffer; some companies rely on the airport’s short free-parking window and start charging once that’s exceeded. Another common gripe: a few travellers reported their “meet-and-greet” driver showing up late despite flight details being provided, which removes the main advantage over grabbing the next taxi from the rank outside T1.

Regular visitors often skip dedicated transfer firms and instead pre-book a Bolt or Uber at scheduled arrival time, saying it feels just as smooth for less money on the 4–5 km ride into town. If you still want a true private transfer, specify your flight number, scheduled arrival time, and hotel address in writing, and ask the company to confirm any waiting-time limits before you pay.

One tip: if your flight lands after 23:00, book a service that explicitly includes flight tracking and at least 45–60 minutes of free waiting time written into the confirmation.
