Sanborns

Gate-side sit-down option in the Main Terminal

Right in TIJ’s Main Terminal, Sanborns gives you a full restaurant and store combo without leaving the secure side. It runs from early morning through late evening, timed to cover the main Volaris and Aeroméxico banks. Seating is standard tables with servers; you’re not eating in the corridor like some of the smaller cafés near the domestic gates.

Menu is classic Mexican chain fare: enchiladas, chilaquiles, sandwiches, burgers, and coffee-shop desserts. Expect mains in the 150–250 MXN range, with soft drinks and coffee around 40–70 MXN. Portions lean generous compared with the grab-and-go spots near the CBX check-in area, and you can comfortably sit for 45–60 minutes without feeling rushed.

Service speed varies with bank times; during morning departures (around 06:00–09:00), food can take 20–30 minutes. On mid-afternoon flights, plates often land in under 15 minutes. Card payments in pesos are standard, and they usually accept major international cards with no issue. Tip: tell them your boarding time so they can pace the meal.

The attached Sanborns shop sells snacks, chocolate, basic pharmacy items, chargers, and last-minute souvenirs. Prices on toiletries and over-the-counter meds run higher than downtown Sanborns locations, but still beat some of the small gate kiosks. If you forgot a cable or travel plug, you’ll likely find a workable option here without hunting the entire terminal.

Practical tip: build a 45-minute cushion from sitting down to boarding; use the receipt’s timestamp to avoid cutting it close at the Main Terminal security filters and gates.
