Gate 19 sits right by Café 2 for a quick caffeine stop

Café 2 sits airside near Gate 19 in TIJ’s Main Terminal, handy if you’re flying Volaris or Aeroméxico out of that cluster of gates. It runs 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, so it catches most morning departures and early evening flights but closes before the late-night Mexico City runs. Everything is post-security, so this is a last-minute grab spot, not a pre-checkpoint meetup.

This is a café and bakery first, with a basic food lineup and a standout croissant as the signature item. Expect simple pastries and light snacks at true $-tier pricing, cheaper than the sit-down spots closer to CBX. Coffee is standard machine espresso rather than third-wave stuff, but it lands better than the drip from many gate kiosks in the Main Terminal.

The croissant is the move here: it’s baked on-site, usually in batches a few times a day, and holds up better than the packaged pastries sold closer to Gate 23. Pair it with a cappuccino or americano and you’re still under 120 MXN, which is rare airport pricing. Food is more about speed than variety, so don’t expect full breakfasts or hot plates at Café 2.

Lines at Café 2 tend to spike around the 7:00–9:00 AM bank of departures, when three or four gates near 19 are boarding at once. Service moves reasonably fast for a small operation, but if your boarding time is within 20 minutes, grab something pre-made from the case instead of waiting on custom drinks. Seating is basically the public gate chairs; there’s no separate dining area here.

Tip: if your flight leaves from another part of the Main Terminal, stop at Café 2 near Gate 19 before walking deeper; the prices sit a notch lower than many CBX-side cafés, and the croissant travels fine for the 10–15 minute walk.
