Outside T1 arrivals, Piazza Bar is the covered café in the small square.
This is the spot right in front of Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa’s T1, in the open piazza between the doors and the parking area. It sits landside, so you can use it before check-in or while waiting for arriving passengers. Seating is all under cover, which helps when it rains or hits 30°C in summer.
Prices run in the low range for an airport: think local Albanian beers and basic coffee for a few euros, cheaper than similar drinks once you pass security. Several Google reviewers call it their “last Albanian beer” stop before heading inside, partly because airside cafés run higher. Snacks are simple bar food, not a full restaurant menu.
Menu basics usually include macchiato, espresso, soft drinks, bottled water, and a couple of pastries or light bites during the day. Expect more of a bar-and-coffee setup than sit-down dining; you’re looking at short stays of 20–40 minutes rather than a long meal. Payment is straightforward with both cash in lek and cards accepted by most reports.
Regulars who pick up friends or family at TIA often sit here with a coffee instead of waiting at the arrivals door or in the parking lot. The bar faces the terminal, so you can see people exit T1 while staying at your table. It also works as a holding pattern if your check-in desk only opens two hours before a 22:00 departure.
Watch out for slow service when two or three flights land close together; reviews mention staff struggling to keep up when the terrace fills after an A320 arrival. Also expect cigarette smoke on the outdoor terrace, which is normal for Albania but can bother non-smokers. If that’s an issue, pick a table at the edge of the seating area.
Tip: check your gate and security wait on your airline app, then head inside about 60 minutes before a Schengen or regional flight to avoid cutting it too close from Piazza Bar.
