Bus to Santa Cruz and La Lagun

Single ticket bus into Santa Cruz from TFN runs about €2–€3

TITSA Line 20 is the standard green public bus linking Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport (TFN, Terminal T) with Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The line runs directly from the airport forecourt outside the arrivals hall, so you walk less than 150 meters from baggage claim to the stop. Look for the stop signed for "Línea 20" on the curbside where taxis also line up.

Tickets on Line 20 usually cost just a few euros per person, paid either with cash in small notes and coins directly to the driver or via the local Ten+ card or contactless options supported by TITSA. Ride time into central Santa Cruz is roughly 20–30 minutes in light traffic, and about 10–15 minutes to La Laguna, depending on time of day. The bus runs both to Santa Cruz and via La Laguna, so check the front display for the terminus name before boarding.

Line 20 normally runs every day, with service spanning early morning through late evening; on many timetables you’ll see headways of around 30 minutes at busier times. Exact first and last departures shift by season and day of week, so before flying look at the current TITSA schedule for "Línea 20" with the date you land. If you land after 22:00, confirm that a late departure still leaves from TFN or have a backup like the taxi rank out front.

The bus stops in central Santa Cruz near key points like the main bus interchange (Intercambiador de Santa Cruz), which links to other TITSA routes across Tenerife. From La Laguna, Line 20 connects via local streets near the historic center and the university area, which can save a separate taxi. If you plan multiple rides the same day, pricing with a Ten+ card or app can cut the per-trip cost compared with buying single tickets in cash.

Seats on Line 20 are standard city-bus style with space for small suitcases and cabin bags, but only limited room for very large checked luggage; anything bigger than a 23 kg suitcase might be awkward on a busy run. The driver opens central doors at larger stops in Santa Cruz and La Laguna, so keep an eye out and press the stop button a stop early. For the airport leg, trains and trams don’t reach TFN, so this bus beats a taxi on price by a large margin.

Practical tip: sit on the right-hand side heading from TFN to Santa Cruz; on clear days you’ll get views over the Anaga hills as the bus drops from about 630 meters elevation toward sea level.
