Metered taxis line up outside TFN’s Arrivals 24/7
Right outside Terminal T at Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, the official taxi rank sits directly in front of the Arrivals hall, and licensed white taxis wait there day and night. Vehicles use a metered fare system with supplements for airport pick-up, luggage, and night or Sunday service, so always check that the meter starts when you get in. You’ll usually see a queue of cars even after the last late-night arrivals around 23:30.
A daytime ride from TFN to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (about 14–16 km) typically runs around €18–€25, depending on traffic and surcharges. Trips to La Laguna are shorter at roughly 4–6 km, and those fares land closer to €8–€12 in normal conditions. For longer coastal runs, expect around €35–€45 to Puerto de la Cruz and €80–€95 to Tenerife Sur Airport (TFS), with higher totals after 22:00 due to the night tariff.
Taxi Tenerife Norte operates every day, 24 hours, with the main stand directly at the terminal curb, so you don’t need to pre-book on normal days. If you’re landing in the busy morning wave between 09:00 and 11:00, the rank queue can stretch back toward the terminal doors, but turnover stays fast because drivers loop back from La Laguna and Santa Cruz in under 30 minutes. For peace of mind, you can ask airport information inside Terminal T to call a radio taxi if the line looks thin late at night.
All official airport taxis at TFN are white with a municipal crest and a visible roof light, and the driver’s license card should be displayed inside the car. Most taxis accept cash in euros; some accept card, but ask before setting off, especially for longer rides over 30 km like TFN–TFS. If you need a baby seat or space for bulky luggage such as surf gear, say so at the front of the taxi queue so the dispatcher can place you in a larger car.
Build the buffer: for an early flight from Santa Cruz, plan on booking a taxi pickup about 1 hour before departure for check-in plus a 20–25 minute ride, and keep an extra €10–€15 on hand in case night or luggage surcharges bump the fare.
