Terminal T3 hosts 5 airlines. It's Shenzhen Airlines's home turf at SZX. You'll find 20 dining options, 10 lounges, 20 shops here.
Security in T3 drops you into a long central hall
Once you clear security in Terminal 3 at Shenzhen Bao'an, you land in a single spine of departures concourses serving Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan, and Shenzhen Airlines. Domestic and international gates split along this main hall, so check the departure boards right away for your gate zone and walking time. T3 is the airport’s headline terminal, opened in the 2010s to replace the older buildings, so most big-name food and retail chains at SZX sit here.
Coffee chains every 3–5 minutes of walking
Starbucks, COSTA Coffee, Pacific Coffee, and Gong Cha are all inside Terminal 3, with at least one coffee outlet visible from most main junctions. Starbucks prices run similar to central Shenzhen; expect around 30–40 RMB for a latte. Gong Cha works better for a quick milk tea before boarding, and kiosks stay open later on the domestic side, often until the last departures after 23:00. If one brand has a long line, walk 100–200 meters down the concourse and you usually hit another.
Fast food anchors near major gate clusters
KFC, McDonald's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Yoshinoya, Ajisen Ramen, Kungfu, and Häagen-Dazs all operate inside T3 beyond security. Yoshinoya and Ajisen Ramen give you rice or noodle bowls in under 10–15 minutes, useful on 40–60 minute turns. KFC and McDonald's usually run combo meals in the 35–55 RMB range. Kungfu is the better pick if you want Chinese-style set meals with rice and vegetables, and Häagen-Dazs is where prices jump, with small cups often over 30 RMB.
Lounges cluster along the mid and end sections
China Southern Sky Pearl Lounge, Shenzhen Airlines King Lounge, and Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Lounge all sit airside in T3, roughly aligned with their main gate groups. Access typically comes via elite status or business and first class tickets on those carriers, so a China Southern Gold member can walk straight into Sky Pearl before a domestic hop. The SF Airlines VIP Lounge, First Class Lounge, Business Lounge, China Merchants Bank Lounge, and China Construction Bank Lounge add options for bank card and paid entries, especially on the domestic level.
Retail skews toward big Chinese and international brands
China Duty Free, King Power Duty Free, Sunrise Duty Free, and DFS Beauty form a duty free loop in T3 serving international departures, with liquor and cosmetics in the usual 100–500 RMB band depending on brand. For regular retail, Watsons covers pharmacy and cosmetics, MUJI to Go and Uniqlo handle basics and travel clothing, and HLA and Li-Ning sell menswear and sportswear. Huawei and an Apple Authorized Reseller give you phones, chargers, and cables if something dies mid-trip.
International side feels thinner than domestic
Skytrax reviews call SZX “okay for domestic flights” but complain that the international section is “really poor and lacking facilities,” and that tone matches what you see in T3: fewer food counters and smaller shop lists once you pass the extra outbound immigration check. Build in time to eat on the domestic/public side of T3 or just after central security, because options shrink once you head into some international gate pens. If your flight leaves from a remote stand, add 10–15 minutes for bus boarding.
Rest areas help on late-night connections
A Flightradar24 reviewer mentions an “excellent rest area for overnight travellers” at Shenzhen Bao'an, and T3 carries a share of those long-haul or red-eye connections. Reclining seats and relatively dim sections near some end gates make it easier to stretch out if your flight leaves after 00:00 or lands before 06:00. Power outlets show up in most newer seating banks, but bring a China-compatible plug and a small extension or splitter, because outlets fill quickly around the 19:00–22:00 domestic bank.
Last practical tip
Give yourself at least 45 minutes from curb to gate in T3 during daytime peaks, then grab food at KFC, Kungfu, or Yoshinoya near your gate instead of camping at the first restaurant you see after security.
